The Last Word So here I am. My last day as Office Manager of Cadiz Christian Church, a title I have loved. For nearly nine years I have served this Church with pride (in the non-sinful use of the word) and have done so to the best of my God-given abilities and talents. I believe I have contributed a great deal to the ministries at CCC. At least I hope I have. I had intended to retire from CCC but it seems God had other plans.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8 I am part of the Reformed tradition, often called Calvinist. That means I believe the Bible tells us that all has been preordained by God rather than by our decisions. Whether you follow this belief or not, if you follow Christ, you accept that all is in His hands. Therefore, my future is in His hands. In my belief, God brought me to CCC, and now He is taking me somewhere else. Where, I know not yet. In The Charge of the Light Brigade, Alfred, Lord Tennyson wrote “Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die.” So it is with Christ-followers. Ours not to make reply, ours not to reason why, ours but to follow Christ. Wherever He leads. Through any storm, strife, fire or fear. You all know the storms, strife, fires and fears I’ve been moving through, and you know that because of the effects they’ve had on me I’m no longer able to do the job the way the elders want me to, and so I have been replaced. I hope I will not be replaced in your affections and prayers though, for you have all been such a blessing to me over the years. I love you all and will miss you. If you treat your new Office Manager with half as much love and support as you have me, she will also be blessed. I’d like to say a few special goodbyes. To my Communications Team: Grant Kelly, Dianne Kokena, Jill Manis, Debbie Margison, Jessica Margison, Barb Maze, Joyce McKenzie, Sandi Mitchell, Judy Motts, Char Paulson, Samantha Ritchie, Ray Shallenberger, Maxine South, Peggy Wilkinson. Thank you for being there every single time I needed you. Thank you for being so willing to jump in to help. Thank you for your feedback, your suggestions, your prayers, your support on so many fronts. I ask you to surround your new Team Leader with all those things. To Jeff, Spencer and Julie: I have loved working with you these many years. Jeff, we worked so well together for so long. In many ways it was easy because we are much alike in so many areas. Spencer, you are already a wonderful youth leader and I know God has many plans for you. You have really blossomed during this apocalyptic time. No one could have handled it better. Julie…well what can I say. You are still what I want to be when I grow up! You are so talented and have such a beautiful spirit. Please remember that while I may not be your Office Manager anymore I am still your friend, and your sister in Christ. It is my honor to be here for you if you have need of prayer or support. To the Elders: Matt Cox, Chris Lovan and Eric Stewart: Thank you for the many graces and mercies you have shown over the years, most especially during my dealings with Mom and my long illness in 2017-2018. You gave so much so willingly, and I could not have asked for better elders to work with. To the Deacons: Jordan Bearhope, Tim Hamilton, Caleb Jessup, Justin Kokena, Pete May, Scott Neal: What a wonderful, Godly group of men you are. CCC is blessed to have you serving her. Thank you for all you did for me. You were there every time a need arose to do what needed done without complaint. You will never know just how grateful Buddy and I are still for your help last year moving from Middletown to Anderson. To the Serving Team Leaders: Taylor Bearhope, Matt and Jo Cox, Rich Essert, Shellie Hamilton, Jeff and Angi Johnson, Nisha Kokena, Amy Lovan, Joe Manis, Jenny Marcum, Kari May, Sandi Mitchell, Ronnie Moore, Shirley New, Julie Roberts, and Spencer Roberts: I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful examples of Christianity. You have been and always strive to be the hands and feet of Christ, and to be willing servants of our Saviour. To everyone I have not named, I thank you for your love, prayers and friendship. If you are not already on my friends list on Facebook but want to keep in touch send me a friend request. You can find me as Genevieve Bird Watson. I’d like to end this Last Word, Last Post, Last Email with a fond farewell clip…in keeping with my love of Theater. Please enjoy. Love, Gen Watson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBMVy6tQQB8
