Words of Encouragement

Mar 19, 2020 An Introduction…

In these semi-apocalyptic times, it’s easy to give in to fear.  I myself have moments I feel the panic bordering, and I’ve been through some pretty scary times.  I’ve stared death in
the face a few times in my adult life.  I kind of pride myself (yeah, I know that’s a sin) on being a practical, logical creature, and so far have been pretty good in an emergency.  But the thought of running out of toilet paper does leave me battling hyperventilation. I mean, when I cleared out our home and Mom’s estate in last summer’s moves I got rid of ALL the spare socks!

But this doesn’t have to be a time of fear, even though it is a time of separation and self-isolation.  2 Timothy 1:17 says God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-discipline. Historically the Church has thrived during times of trial, and it will continue to do so. Today’s world gives us a unique chance to continue connecting with each other even when we can’t go out of our homes. We have Facebook, websites, YouTube, texting, emailing. Imagine how fast the Gospel would have spread if the Church in Acts had had those things!

But we need to make a concerted effort to make sure that the Enemy doesn’t stick his nose in and pull us away from God’s Church.  In that light, and since as Office Manager at CCC Communication is kind of my job description, I will be doing my best to help keep us all connected. I will be sending out a daily (or mostly daily) mini-devotional by All-Church email and posting it on CCC’s Facebook. I will also be posting on my personal page in an effort to connect to my own church, Westminster Presbyterian, and the many other churches that my friends belong to. Feel free to repost to other friends who may need to hear a word of encouragement. We are not separate, my friends. We all belong to one Church, we are all the bride of Christ.

If you think about it, this could be a really exciting time! With the need to stay home all the time, just think about the opportunity to have church at home as a family! The time you can use to dig deeper into His Word! The chance to get caught up on housework! (Maybe you’ll even find some of those spare socks…) Oh yeah, and the chance to get to know my weird sense of humor even better.

My first post will be tomorrow and I’ll be exploring prayer. Stay tuned for updates to our ever-changing circumstance, for prayer requests that are posted. Keep your ears open for His Word and keep your Eyes on His Son!
